Weekend Foodie Warriors- Take 5!
Hello hello, again, Foodie Friends 🙂 Let’s get right to it! In this edition of Foodie Adventures, I’ll be jam packing 5 new adventures in — Opening Day at the ballpark, Food with family, Shalom Fest, Automatic Taco Truck Thursday, and a sneak peak of my next blog coming out this week!
I’m actually going to start the weekend on Thursday (hey, sometimes it happens!) with a great little bite from Food Truck Thursday with the Automatic Taco Truck.
You already know how much I love food trucks, this one was no exception! I was in the mood to make this a taco Thursday so I tracked this truck down and got a couple new plays on flavors. Will definitely have to check them out again as they change items with their seasonal menu.
Left: Papas fritas
Middle: Buffalo chicken taco w/creme fresca & light ranch
Right: Chorizo taco w/parsley & salsa verde
The Greenville Drive Vs. West Virginia Power (Pirates)
Next was Opening Night at Fluor Field (The Greenville Drive Stadium), so I grabbed a bunch of friends and we headed out to see the game!
If you don’t know a lot about the Drive, think of them as the Red Sox’s Minor League fielding team. Anyone who wants to be on the Sox’s team has to go through training and play here first, to show their skills and maybe be eligible to move onto the actual team. The stadium itself is modeled after Fenway Park, it even has the Green Monster! Makes me feel at home every time I visit 🙂
Tonight’s game was special because Dustin Pedroia (one of my all-time favorite Red Sox) was on a rehab assignment here and was playing tonight (
Dustin at bat are the bottom right pictures in the gallery).
I cannot tell a lie, I fangirled just a teeny bit. I totally used to have posters on him on my wall as a kid with a baseball bat and her grand-dad’s weathered old glove.
A Day at Home
Lake Norman, NC
I have not been home in WEEKS and I am such a family person. I missed my parents, little sis (who’s not so little anymore), grandma (94 years old, God bless her), and this big fluffy boy Waylon.
He’s our Goldendoodle guide dog flunkee, as he was training to be a guide dog, but loved being outside so much that he wouldn’t come back in when he was called. Would definitely be difficult for someone who was elderly or had issues moving around quickly to run after him if he misbehaved. He’s named Waylon after the country singer, as his foster parents raised him in Tennessee!
Shrimp with Mushroom & Asparagus Risotto & Cauliflower Crumble
Mom always likes to make seafood when I’m home as a treat (and my boyfriend is allergic), so she made us shrimp with an asparagus and mushroom risotto, which was delish! She also tried something new with this cauliflower crumble, which I believe had sauteed onions and Ritz crackers in it as well. She inspired me to make my own risotto for meal prep this week, stay tuned for that later!
Shalom Fest
Greenville, SC
Shalom Fest was on Sunday, very excited for this one! I’ve been hanging out with my friends who are Jewish a lot more lately and I can’t say no to a good food festival.
Of course we went straight to the food after saying hi to our friends who were volunteering, just check out this spread!
Whoever came up with the signs on the walls was funny too… “Hamantaschen for Noshin'”….”Hummus Among Us”…and “Latkepaloosa”!
Desserts made by Savta 👵
(Hebrew for “Grandma”)
Remember the Hamantaschen from a couple weeks ago I made? These are the same!
This was our Jewish and Mediterranean Feast, from left to right:
Matzo Ball soup, Challah bread with brisket, latkes (Jewish potato pancakes 😍), Kugel (a cross between pasta and rice pudding, tastes really good!), pita bread, hummus, falafel (fried chickpea balls), and tabbouleh (parsley mint salad).
The Mediterranean food (pita bread, hummus, falafel, and tabbouleh) was catered by this amazing place in Greenville called Pita House, check out their website here! *CASH ONLY* They are amazing and their food is all homemade in house. http://www.pitahousesc.com/
We even got to sit in on a Jewish wedding to finish out the event! It was a beautiful ceremony 👰🤵
Sneak Peek!
I recently got to try some Black Garlic Hummus from Sprouts, and let me tell you, I was inspired 😍 I made two dishes I am so excited to share with you, come back on Friday for an entire Black Garlic themed day!
