Weekend Foodie Warriors- Take 26 & 27!
Hello hello, again, Foodie Friends ๐ Hope you had a fantastic weekend! In this edition of Foodie Adventures, we’re having a throwback to Week 26 with a few foodie adventures from Maryland, and this week we visit a Vintage Pop Up Market and show a sneak peek at my Autumn stuffed squash recipe!
Adventures in MD, Take 26 – Brunch & Ice Cream!
Westminster, MD
I know you all missed the normal Weekend Foodie Warriors last week!! That was my bad, was so tired from all the driving and wedding stuff that weekend by the time I got back on Tuesday I said forget about it (I hear Johnny Depp’s New York accent from “Donnie Brasco” in my head when I write that)!
The wedding was sunflower-themed and absolutely gorgeous! The weather couldn’t have been better and I loved being able to be a part of it!
What else was there to do the next day but to take me out to brunch? ๐
I know I talked about Baughers for their produce a few weeks ago, but definitely don’t miss out on their home cooking! This restaurant has been open almost as long as the farm stand, for 70 years, and the quality has remained high ever since I can remember.
In high school in my marketing class, I completed a project for my final on improving something from an existing local business, and I picked the menu at Baugher’s. So happy that five years later when I returned, their menu looks sleeker and just like I imagined! Maybe they even took a few pointers from my presentation, we’ll never know ๐คทโโ๏ธ
For brunch, I enjoyed their seasonal apple cinnamon pancakes, which tasted like a delicious cross between apple pie and a cinnamon roll ๐
The sugar coma was real, I had to walk around a park afterward to burn off some of the calories!
After that, I visited some old friends who own a horse farm (if you love adorable farm animals like geese, baby peacocks, sheep, bunnies, horses, Silkie (aka fluffy) chickens, and doggos, see the slideshow below), and then headed to meet up with my best friend Taylor for ice cream!
Hoffman’s Ice Cream has been around ever since I lived in Maryland ( so about 20 years ago), and has been a staple for families, high schoolers, and after sports practices for as long as I can remember.
I hadn’t seen Taylor in about three years so finally getting to connect in person again was exciting! We met when I lived in Maryland and we worked at the same company for an internship and became fast friends, the rest is history ๐
They have a crazy amount of flavors and their ice cream cookie cakes are to die for! You were the coolest kid on the block if you had a Hoffman’s ice cream cake on your birthday.
We ended up going with lemon sorbet (less dairy and one of my favorite flavors) and a seasonal apple pie ice cream, which was delish!
As we caught up and talked outside, we reminisced about times past and enjoyed our awesome ice cream from the back of my trunk (not a lot of seating but the ice cream is worth it!)
If you’re any kind of ice cream lover, this is the place to be! Check them out next time you drive through Westminster, MD!
I love a good antique market almost as much as I love a farmer’s market! Max and I had been antiquing here before and when I heard there was a pop-up market coming with local vendors and food trucks, I had to check it out for you all.
There was one food truck, the Roll-in Cuban, that was parked outside, but unfortunately, by the time I finished exploring, they were packing up and I didn’t get to eat anything there. I’ll have to catch up with it another time and let you know how yummy it is, it sure smelled good walking by!
One of my favorite vendors right as you walked in was Elizabeth and Robert from Harbor 17. They were so funny and sweet, all their decor reminded me of Cape Cod, and their candles smelled amazing!
I walked away with one called the Black Sea, but the Blood Orange was also calling my name!
There was so much to look at, I took about 80 pictures this weekend and narrowed it down to these for you – There were funky lamps, old kitchen gadgets (my faves), the old original sky blue Ball jars, handcrafted soaps and jewelry, and much more!
Another really cool vendor I stopped to see before I left was The Castle Keep, a collector of pewter goblets from various countries and times across the world.
Game of Thrones fans, this was the booth for you! They had dragon goblets, medieval designs, and even some really cool wedding chalices for the fair maiden and knight in you!
The next vendor I stopped at was Emily Dent’s Peace and Mud Pottery (love the name!), which featured handcrafted bowls, mugs, cups, and jars of all shapes and sizes!
Amazingly, their pottery is also microwaveable and dishwasher safe which blows my mind ๐ฎ I loved the mugs that looked like they had drips running down them, reminded me of the drip cakes I love to watch videos of on Instagram. They even had small glasses (see right picture) with an indent near the bottom where your thumb normally rests on a cup. Genius if you ask me!
The mug I got was a combination of some gorgeous jewel tones, emerald, a dark teal, and purple, spattered with white that reminded me of a galaxy.
This fruit bowl was calling my name, I couldn’t leave it there! It’s my favorite color and I loved the cutouts! Emily called it a berry bowl, saying she used it to rinse berries (holes in the sides gave a colander effect) and to display and eat them afterward.
This event was a lot of fun, I did take pictures inside of the Vintage Marketplace too, definitely a fun place to check out, they’re always changing things so you’ll never know what you’ll find there! Loved this vintage Kitchen Aid mixer I found, the maroon is awesome โค
*Upcoming Recipe Sneak Peek*
I made some amazing stuffed acorn squashes last night, look for that recipe coming out this week!

Pop up markets are flea markets here. But none so elaborate. I am a real fan of ice cream and would like Hoffman’s.
Good edition.
Thank you ๐ I appreciate it!
